Born in Baghdad (Iraq)) on 6.5.1978, he studied art, theatre directing, in Baghdad before moving to the Netherlands in 1995 to take up film studies at Hilversum Media Academy. He specialised as a cameraman. Mohamed AL-DARADJI completed his studies at Northern Film School in Leeds. Later, he graduated with an MA in cinematography in Leeds. He has made several short films and a few commercials. Mohamed AL-DARADJI returned to Iraq for the first time in 2003 in order to make his feature film debut, AHLAAM (2005), then House for Sale (2010, feature, codirected with Atia Al-Daradji). In 2012, his third feature SON OF BABYLONE (Ibn Babil) was selected at 62nd Berlinale.

Geboren am 6.5.1978 in Bagdad. Studierte Kunst in Bagdad, bevor er für ein Filmstudium an der Media Academy in Hilversum in die Niederlande zog. Be en dete seine Ausbildung an der Northern Film School in Leeds. Realisier te Werbefilme und kehrte 2003 erstmals für seinen Debütfilm AHLAAM in den Irak zurück.
